The Department of Archaeology and Museums (DOAM) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

URGENTLY REQUIRED

The services of Project Director are required for management, conservation and development of Moenjodaro - World Heritage Site.

1. Qualification:

An advance university degree, preferably in Archaeology or related discipline.

2. Experience:

At least 15 years experience in Archaeology or in Project Management of Conservation, Restoration and Preservation of historical/archaeological sites/ monuments preferably knowledge of Archaeological site, Moenjodaro.

3. Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Good writing and oral communication.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent coordination, management, negotiation and supervisory skills.
  • Good Report writing skills.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Knowledge of local language (Sinhdi).

4. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate the implementation activities for the management and preservation of the Site in close collaboration with DOAM, UNESCO and Ministry.
  • Manage and coordinate the staff at Moenjodaro, comprising archaeologists, conservators, landscape architects and others.
  • Provide logistic support for workshops/missions and all other project activities.
  • Maintain records of progress and prepare bimonthly reports for submission to DOAM, UNESCO and the Ministry.
  • Plan and organize promotional activities in coordination with local partners and communities.
  • Participate and provide inputs to related technical and administrative meetings.
  • Ensure completion of the project on time, within the approved cost and upto specification as mentioned in the approved plan.
  • Prepare annual Cash/Work plan of the project keeping in view the budget allocation and priorities laid down in the plan.
  • Calling, opening, scrutiny and approval of tenders.
  • Participate in contract, negotiation.
  • Guide and supervise the project staff including defining of their duties and responsibilities.
  • Ensure that the problems contributing to decay and deterioration of the monument etc. are properly identified and eliminated by taking appropriate measures.
  • Ensure that conservation is done with traditional materials and techniques.

5. Powers: He shall be delegated full administrative and financial powers.

6. Rs. 100,000/- PER MONTH (CONSOLIDATED PAY)

7. For candidate having extra qualification and experience, the salary package can be negotiated.

8. Duty Station: Moenjodaro Site.
