In 1995, BHP Billiton joint venture was awarded the Dadu
concession (Block 2667-1) located in the province of sindh, Pakistan.
The Zamzama gas field was discovered in 1998 and production started in March
2001 via an extended well test (EWT). Following the successful test period the
field was then developed in phases.
Phase 1 of the development was completed in July 2003 with
the drilling of five appraisal wells, installation of gas processing facilities
and signing of a gas sales agreement with SSGCL/ SNGPL for the sale of
320MMSCFD of gas. The phase 2 development consisted of a more complex gas
process to remove nitrogen from some of the gas, and also established an
additional gas sales agreement with SSGC for 150MMscf/d. phase 2 came on-stream
in the last quarter of 2008.
Currently, the Zamzama Gas field is delivering above
430MMscf/d of dry gas to market and in its continued commitment to optimize
value of the business in Pakistan,
BHP Billiton is forging ahead with the Front End Compression (FEC) project. The
FEC project, which is expected to be in operation by mid-2011 is an investment
of $135 million and will help the PU produce additional reserves, extending the
plateau and ensuring security of supply.
All phases of the field development have been achieved with
constant priority given to health, Safety, Environment and the Community
Development (HSEC) initiatives and improvements in all activities. In January
2010, the Zamzama Gas Plant reached the milestone of eight years without a
lost-time incident (LTI) and in August 2010 surpassed 3,519 days without an

Zamzama Gas Plant:
This is a field based position reporting to the Land
Negotiations Officer. Key responsibilities include land lease renewals and
record maintenance; coordination of various land reports and compensation calculations (land, crops, trees, etc);
ensuring the measurements are accurate and rates are adequately paid for
crops/property damage; raising of requisitions in GSAP; verification of
received documents; assisting Land Negotiations Officer in obtaining NOC’s,
permits, approvals from various government departments and performing day to
job activities assigned by the Land Negotiations officer.
Skills and Experience
Graduate with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience in
handling invoices and financial calculations. Good interpersonal and
communication skills are essential, knowledge of land lease relating legal
aspects shall be advantageous.
